Dear Covered Bridge Scouting volunteers:
My name is Rick Martinez and I currently
serve you as the Covered Bridge Senior District Executive
for the Atlanta Area Council, BSA.
As a young boy in Vincentown, NJ, I was very
active in Scouting. I can still remember making hoagies for
our annual hoagie sale, building my Pinewood Derby car with
my dad, and earning my Arrow of Light before crossing over
into the troop. I also remember crossing a river on a rope
bridge that we made as a patrol with our Scoutmaster waiting
below in a canoe, just in case one of us fell over! I
remember the Father-Son campout that my dad & I went to and
sleeping under the stars with a belly full of hot dogs,
Smores and “bug juice”.
Now my son Christopher is in the program as a
Wolf Cub in Pack 1455. I am dedicated to teaching him the
things I learned through Scouting and leading him along the
trail to Eagle. I have also pledged to provide the youth of
Atlanta, including your children, with a quality Scouting
program.
For the past 24 years, I’ve called Georgia my
home, initially in Roswell before settling down in Kennesaw
with my wife, Patty, my son, Christopher and my daughter,
Claudia. I graduated from UGA with a degree in
Communications and then earned my MBA in Finance at Kennesaw
State University.
As a professional Scouter, I am a member of
the Order of the Arrow and recently completed my Wood Badge
ticket (92-49 Owl patrol). I have also taught a course,
“Dealing with Difficult Parents”, at last year’s
Commissioner College and have attended SWC for the past
three years.
I look forward to serving the Covered Bridge
community by promoting our program to the best of my
ability. I hope that I will have an opportunity to meet with
you in the near future to personally thank you for your
continued commitment to Scouting. If I can ever be of any
assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call me at
(770) 235-8091.
Sincerely,
Rick Martinez
